A large number of ship models illustrating the shipping on the river from the Roman times until today.

This museum which opened on November 28, 1994, houses the remains of the five Roman warships excavated in 1981 and 1982 in Mainz. The wrecks were found at 7,5 meters depth just outside the Roman time city walls of Mainz when excavating for the Mainz Hilton Hotel. A reconstruction of one of the ships can be seen at the museum.
