Crest of the Wave

A fullrigged wooden extreme clipper ship built in 1853 by William Pile, Sunderland. Her dimensions were 184'3"×32'3"×20'1" and tonnage: 924 tons OM and 856 tons NM. 805 GRT, 759 NRT and 669 tons under deck. She had a 46 ft long forecastle and poop of 55 ft.

D.R. McGregor calculates her under deck coefficient to 0,56.

Rigged with three skysails but reduced to barque-rig before 1879.

Launched at the shipyard of William Pile, Sunderland, for Brice, Friend & Co., Liverpool. Assigned the Official British No. 15990 and signal LVNW. Employed in the China tea trade.
