Sorabjee Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy

An iron barque built in 1864 by Laird Brothers, Birkenhead. Dimensions 63,20×10,74×6,77 meters [207'2"×35'2"×22'2"] and 1199 GRT, 1199 NRT and 1136 tons under deck.
1864 December
Launched at the shipyard of Laird Bros, Birkenhead, for J. Parsons, Liverpool. Assigned the official British Reg. No. 51433 and signal JTSQ.
1867
Sold to the British Shipowners Co. and was renamed British India.
1881
Sold to R.W. Leyland & Co., Liverpool.
1893
Laid up at Leith for a period of time.
1893 December 11
Left Leith with a cargo of coal for Rio de Janeiro under command of Captain Roberts who had replaced Captain Whiteside.
1894 January 19
Abandoned with the coal cargo on fire some 30 miles NW of Madeira. Spontaneous combustion of "channel coal" had never previously been recorded.
